Yep, it triggered mine as far as we can tell. I started to notice that something was really wrong when my son was about 8 months. It took another 10 years to figure it out myself and demand the blood screening!
My sis (because they were looking for it by then) also triggered after her 2nd child was born.
My brother has the genes, but is eating gf in the hopes of not having the full autoimmune reaction kick in himself.
Interesting , isn’t it? Watch your son like a hawk and breastfeed as long as you can, don’t introduce gluten until he is older. My sis’s kids are not going to have any gluten products until around 5th or 6th grade!c (I don’t agree with that, but that is her decision…)

Hi. Put bluntly. It is a GENETIC autoimmune disease. Both of your parents, and all of your siblings should be tested for celiac.
You are a carrier. Depending on your husband’s status (if he carries the genes, which he likely does as 40% of the population are carriers) your child has a very high chance of having the celiac genes, and possibly celiac disease. You all need to do ALL you can to prevent the triggering of the disease while on your watch.

Your gastroenterologist should have told you all of that. If not, you need to find a GI who knows more about the disease!

p.s. My son does not have it either, but since he is a carrier and I am a celiac, he will continue to be tested for his whole life and his children will also be tested. I am really surprised that no one told you about this! Please tell your pediatrician right away that you are a celiac so they can be aware of his potential to have the disease!
